I did it!! I'd seen these cutesy little icons on other webpages and had been wondering how they managed to get all these cute things! I fnally figured it out, and now I have one too!
They're called mood icons and you can use them to express your mood so that everyone out there, who's reading your blog, knows what you're mood is at the moment!
I thought that was quite interesting..
Not that i think anyone other then my closest friends are reading this in any case!!

I don't have very much to talk about today...i'm actually in a blah mood (that was the icon that I chose first. I just changed it to the present one in a moment of feeling accomplished!)
I need a holiday, I think. I'm feeling rather drained and energyless. I'm also looking forward to tomorrow's Taiqiquan class.
I just started this class last week and already it's made me feel so much better.
So what is Taiqiquan? Most of us have heard of Taichi, the stuff practised by old men and women in the wee hours of the morning.
Taiqiquan (pronounced tai-chi-chwen) is the original Chinese martial artform. It is now popularly known as Taiqi/Taichi but in fact, both are different. Taiqi evolved from Taiqiquan, as did other forms of Taiqi, such as Qigong. Chen style Taiqi is one of the most ancient forms of Chinese martial art, also known as Wushu.

Taiqiquan has a number of unique characteristics. Like Zen Buddhism, it's all about 'mindfulness'. Like the Tao, it emphasises the importance of Chi and the balance of yin and yang in both body and mind.
Taiqiuan intermixes fast movements with slow ones, and contains more movements that are genuinely applicable to self-defence than any other form of Taiqi.

So this is what I'm learning and all I can say is that I'm impressed.
I am someone who constantly suffers from backaches. Nothing worrying, just annoying. I have a feeling it's my posture, though I've been told that it's because my back curves more than it should. Again, not alarming or dangerous, just annoying.
Also due to my posture again, and the fact that I spend most of my waking life in front of the computer, my shoulders have developed these knots that just won't go away till they're massaged away.
This used to happen practically every evening. The first evening that I went home to bed knot and ache-free, was last Thursday, after my first Taiqiquan class!! You can imagine how I felt - elated!
We concentrated on proper posture, stretching, balancing, and relaxing in that class, and it made me feel like a new person - almost!
So my next class is tomorrow, and I can barely wait!

But this evening should be quite a bit of fun too! I'm meeting a friend at dome and we're going for Shikisha (South Africe). SHIKISHA is a captivating trio of women who mix the traditional Zulu-, Sotho-, Xhosa- and Shangaan-dances, chants and drumming of day-to-day tribal life with the searing electric sounds of the contemporary South African township.
The SHIKISHA performance is a powerful union of voice and movement. Their Zulu chants and dance has developed into the perfect vehicle for their interpretation of modern dance music or the contemporary polyrhythm of the African continent.

I'm watching them tonight. They should be good! I'm so excited!!

Will write about them tomorrow!

Hello, and welcome to my very own little cyber-space. This blogspot is going to be a virtual diary, filled with thoughts, anecdotes or sayings that I might have read from someplace as innocuous as on the backseat of an SBS bus, interesting encounters, experiences, travelogues, I think you get the general idea? This space is MY space and will be filled with anything I'd like to fill it with! So if you think you can handle the nuggets of wisdom embedded in a lot of drivel, please proceed!!

gloria steinem
You are Gloria Steinem. You are the McDonalds(tm)
of liberal feminism, though you used to expouse
some pretty radical ideas, you ended up working
the system. Because it's easier? Maybe. But
thanks for the only mainstream feminist
magazine and for heading one of the most
significant feminist lobbys in the history of
the US. We wouldn't be where we are without NOW
and Ms., as much as some of us are loathe to
admit it.
