Maeri... I'm listening to Maeri (by Euphoria) as I type this, hence the title hehe.....I don't know why, but this song makes me feel all nostalgic - and that's quite apt coz that's been my predominant emotion all weekend...

We've had a long weekend over here since Good Friday was a public holiday and so was Easter Monday! Rekha, Sujit and Sindya came over on Thursday evening, just a couple of hours after I reached home from Wellington where I'd been for a conference all week....

It was a weekend filled with laughter, excellent food and lovely, comfortable company - one to be treasured since I don't get many of those anymore...they loved the city and I loved being with them! The beach was lovely as well, even if we got there a little late...it was fun just sitting around and chatting...shopping, linking arms as we walked down the street, past cafes and live jazz performances...queueing up for cotton candy, playing dumb charades, pulling each other's legs, reminiscing, updating and generally catching up on the past and planning for the future...

I missed them sorely when they finally piled into their car and left on their long long journey back to palmy...I spent the rest of the day moping and cleaning up the house....it felt empty as it always does after friends have left

The next day was spent lazing in bed, watching movies, making my favourite breakfast - pancakes with maple syrup and crisp bacon, watching more movies, doing a bit of work (sorting out the piles of things rekha and sujit had brought from palmy - old stuff that i'd left there and fogotten about) and then going for a long walk in the crisp, cold nite, to talk about our future....I had concerns, he had concerns and we needed to talk about them when we were sober. Thankfully enough, we talked them through came to a compromise...

Then I got online (miracle of miracles), chatted with a good friend, emailed an old friend (thought we'd lost touch but funnily enough, the day after a fleeting thought in my head, randomly wondering how she was, I see her name in my inbox! how weird is that?!), made dinner and then it was a bit more of a movie and off to dreamland...

All in all, a lovely weekend and if I weren't headed down to palmy next month, i'd still be feeling bereft and miserable!
Hello, and welcome to my very own little cyber-space. This blogspot is going to be a virtual diary, filled with thoughts, anecdotes or sayings that I might have read from someplace as innocuous as on the backseat of an SBS bus, interesting encounters, experiences, travelogues, I think you get the general idea? This space is MY space and will be filled with anything I'd like to fill it with! So if you think you can handle the nuggets of wisdom embedded in a lot of drivel, please proceed!!

gloria steinem
You are Gloria Steinem. You are the McDonalds(tm)
of liberal feminism, though you used to expouse
some pretty radical ideas, you ended up working
the system. Because it's easier? Maybe. But
thanks for the only mainstream feminist
magazine and for heading one of the most
significant feminist lobbys in the history of
the US. We wouldn't be where we are without NOW
and Ms., as much as some of us are loathe to
admit it.

never want to betray that about yourself. You
will never stop looking for answers, but you
don't let that get in the way of living life.
You know when to reserved, and when to be
