It's only words and words are all I have, to take your breath away.. I must remember this, something I read in a blog one day:
"Words have power. Words can change the world and Words can break a heart."

I must remember that words have the power to change things. I must remember that I can't bandy them about like there's no tomorrow. I must be aware that when they are flung around carelessly, they could crash through a roof and smash into dinner plates. That shards of smashed dishes and broken words could fly like shrapnel. That people could be hurt.

I must be more careful. From now on, my words must be carefully chosen, and handled gently.
Of masks and men... Once when we were around 13 or 14 yrs old, a few of us ran out to the middle of the school field and literally screamed our lungs out. We didn't scream anything in particular, it was just a wordless venting of frustration and stress.

I wish I could do that now. But I can't. I must be grown up, wear a mask of composure and fight the urge to stand up and scream at everyone to sort their own problems out, that I have enough of my own, thank you very much.

How I'm feeling right now.. Here are 2 quotes that succinctly reflect how I'm feeling today....

"The highest purpose of intellectual cultivation is to give a man a perfect knowledge and mastery of his own inner self; to render our consciousness its own light and its own mirror"

"Life is a tragedy for those who feel, and a comedy for those who think."

Do you sometimes feels that something someone has said would be seriously funny if you were the observer, the 3rd party and not the party that has a stake in what's happening? Sorry I can't be less vague, but it involves other people and other stories that I have no right to tell.

Of course, this is supposed to be an online diary of sorts and we're supposed to be free of inhibitions when we blog but c'mon ppl, I'm not stupid! I can't just forget that this is on the internet and while I don't have delusions of grandeur and am quite aware of the fact that possibly only 1, maybe 2 people actually read this, it's quite easily accessible to about a 100 million others, should they want to read it and becoz of that, I have to be careful.

That said, the fact still remains that a lot of people say and do a lot of things that would make life seem to be a comedy. But somehow, it's not so funny when it's happening to us, is it?

The inner self....how do we gain mastery over something we're only vaguely aware of? I guess that's the intellectual cultivation they're talking about....I'm not sure how these 2 sentiments/thoughts link, but in my head they do and I'll leave that as it is for now.

It all makes perfect sense in my head. I swear it does.
Hello, and welcome to my very own little cyber-space. This blogspot is going to be a virtual diary, filled with thoughts, anecdotes or sayings that I might have read from someplace as innocuous as on the backseat of an SBS bus, interesting encounters, experiences, travelogues, I think you get the general idea? This space is MY space and will be filled with anything I'd like to fill it with! So if you think you can handle the nuggets of wisdom embedded in a lot of drivel, please proceed!!

gloria steinem
You are Gloria Steinem. You are the McDonalds(tm)
of liberal feminism, though you used to expouse
some pretty radical ideas, you ended up working
the system. Because it's easier? Maybe. But
thanks for the only mainstream feminist
magazine and for heading one of the most
significant feminist lobbys in the history of
the US. We wouldn't be where we are without NOW
and Ms., as much as some of us are loathe to
admit it.
